Data Standards

Data standards considerations for integrations

Different systems use different methods and formats for storing text, date time and time duration data. This is an impediment when it comes to integrating systems.

Here are the standards to follow when publishing data via AIP:

  • Text: Unicode - UTF8 encoded
  • Date time: UTC in ISO8601 format
  • Examples:

    • 2024-04-10T06:52:50.8159747Z
    • 2024-04-10
  • Duration Format: The ISO 8601 duration format follows the pattern: PnYnMnDTnHnMnS.

  • P: Indicates the start of the duration (stands for “period”).
  • n: Represents a numerical value (e.g., 1, 2, 10).
  • Y: Years.
  • M: Months.
  • W: Weeks.
  • D: Days.
  • T: Separates date and time components (if both are present).
  • H: Hours.
  • M: Minutes.
  • S: Seconds.
  • Examples:
    • P1Y2M3DT4H5M6S: Represents 1 year, 2 months, 3 days, 4 hours, 5 minutes, and 6 seconds.
    • PT1H30M: Represents 1 hour and 30 minutes.
    • P0.5Y: Represents half a year (6 months).
